What to Expect

Individual or Relationship Sex Therapy

Sex Therapy offers a safe, private and non-judgemental space to explore and discuss concerns of a sexual nature.

First Session

The first session involves you (and your partner, if relationship therapy) letting me know a bit about who are and what you’re looking for support with. I will ask you questions to help gather this information. This session also serves as an opportunity for us to decide if we are a good fit to work together.

Feeling comfortable in the session is one of the most important facets of therapy.

Second Session

The second session is where I gather information about the people who raised you and important experiences you had growing up. I will also ask you questions about experiences with sex and sexuality. Any questions that you don’t feel comfortable discussing we can skip.

If you are seeing me for relationship sex therapy, each person will have a confidential one-on-one session. I will not discuss what we talked about during the session, however, you are free to talk with each other about what we discussed.

Third Session

In terms of frequency of appointments, that will be up to you based on availability, your financial situation and for some, coverage. Sometimes the treatment plan will involve sexuality education and you may be directed to a website or an article or a book. You may also be given exercises to do at home. In addition, I may suggest that we work in conjunction with a family doctor, pelvic floor physiotherapist, gynecologist or urologist.
